Although Paul does anything but relax , he has A Relaxing Garden featured on page 65 in Gardening from a Hammock.
Plan the garden around your life, Paul Zammit, Director of Horticulture at the Toronto Botanical Garden, advises. Make it fun, not overwhelming. He suggests planting trees first to let them get established and start a canopy, put in hardscaping and then add evergreens, shrubs, perennials and annuals in that order.
“Don’t plant a vegetable garden if you go to the cottage. Start planning around your rest spot. Consider not only where you will be sitting, but also think about the view from that spot. The view is what you want to be designing.”
