To learn about the striking plants in Susan’s garden, visit A Tall, Dancing Garden on page 73 in Gardening from a Hammock.
Susan prides herself on being a thrifty gardener and encourages people to spend more money on soil than on plants. “If plants are sited right with good soil, they will thrive”, she says. She also doesn’t follow the trends, but sticks to the old-fashioned, time-proven plants, favouring natives that attract birds and other pollinators.
Susan Lipchak is a Master Gardener who can be found volunteering at the Toronto Botanical Garden when not digging in her own yard. She is an active member of the Ontario Rock and Hardy Plant Society.
